Types of OLEDs

These are two types:-

  1. Traditional OLEDs:- It is made by depositing the small organic molecules on the glass to produce light.
  2. Light-Emitting Polymers:- these are made by large plastic molecules, these plastic molecules are called Polymers. These OLEDs are called Light-Emitting Polymers (LEPs) and are sometimes called Polymer LEDs (PLEDs) because they are printed on plastic. Plastic is very thin and flexible as compared to glass so they are very thin and flexible.

Advantages of OLED

  • These are brighter so no need for a backlight 
  • OLED consume low power as compared to LCD these are used in portable device so that the device gives good battery life
